I’m so glad you’re here.
I look forward to getting to know you better. I am passionate about reading and writing and look forward to taking this shared journey with you this semester.
A little about me: I grew up in San Antonio and am married with two kids (16 & 13). We also have a dog named Ranger. In my spare time, I’m a video game nerd and Ford Mustang fan. I’m also a fiction writer and retired Naval Aviator who is passionate about building community, fighting injustice, and celebrating diversity through teaching students about writing and literature. I am currently at work on my first novel, and coffee is my favorite junk food..

For routine questions, you can reach me via email in Canvas (look for the Inbox tab on the left). I answer Canvas Inbox emails most quickly between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday thru Friday. I am less likely to check emails during evenings or weekends, so please plan accordingly.
Whether you need assistance with homework or want to touch base on a personal issue, I am also available to meet outside of normal class time. Before or after class can be a convenient time, but you can also visit me during student engagement hours (see the course home page for specific times). Please contact me via Canvas or in-class to schedule a time to get together.
